2010 was the first time I'd missed the Indians home opener since 2004. Despite my experiences with the blizzard opener and the deluge opener I regretted that decision; here in Cleveland we so rarely get to feel the energy of a packed ballpark that it seems silly to pass it up when available ( Read more... )

I didn't go to the Home Opener this year, burned one too many times by miserable weather, and now by a lack of companions inclined to join me. Naturally, it was bright and sunny and gorgeous. Last weekend it was eighty degrees in Cleveland. It was perfect weather to watch some baseball. Too bad it couldn't have been that way for Home Opener on April 10. That Friday saw a miserable downpour that went for the entire game, ultimately leading to a four hour rain delay after the fourth inning. The 4pm game ended near 11:30pm.
